night’s rain—light, through each droplet,
writes its own story.

The eagles are back.
Two bright heads bend over a
fish. We can share this.

When the wind drops and
water is glass—just the
gust in every breath.

There are days when no
birds sing—only a passing
car in a heavy sigh.
vi.
Season of retreat.
Warm days ignite whatever
cold nights extinguish.
vii.
A great fog has hushed
the world. Now I can hear
the roar inside me.
viii.
Could I find a home someplace
other than this life? Only
if I were looking.
